Cubase engineers on macOS and Windows want to hear their Stereo Out on their phone exactly as it sounds through the console — no exports, no waiting. Here's how to insert Auxfeed on Cubase's Stereo Out bus and start streaming to your phone in under 60 seconds.
What You Need
- Cubase Pro, Artist, or Elements on macOS or Windows
- Auxfeed VST3 plugin installed (auxfeed.com — VST3/AAX on both platforms)
- Auxfeed app on your iPhone or Android phone, connected to the same Wi-Fi
Steps
1. Download and Install the Plugin
Go to auxfeed.com and download the Auxfeed installer for your platform. Run it, then relaunch Cubase. Cubase uses VST3 — it will detect Auxfeed automatically on launch, or you can manually rescan via Studio > VST Plug-in Manager > Update.
2. Open MixConsole and Insert Auxfeed on the Stereo Out
Open the MixConsole (F3). Find the Stereo Out output channel — it's at the far right of your channel strip by default. Click the Inserts tab at the top of the Stereo Out channel. Click any empty insert slot and type "Auxfeed" in the search field, or browse to it in the VST3 folder. Click it to insert. The Auxfeed plugin window opens.
3. Configure the Plugin
In the Auxfeed window, select your codec. PCM Lossless streams the full resolution signal with no compression. Opus compresses efficiently for listening across the room or through a more congested Wi-Fi environment. On iPhone, AAC is also available. Leave the PIN field blank — no authentication needed on your Wi-Fi.
4. Open the Auxfeed App
Launch the Auxfeed app on your phone. It discovers the plugin automatically using Bonjour — your Cubase session appears in the list within a few seconds. Tap to connect. No IP address needed.
5. Press Play in Cubase
Hit the transport play button. Audio from your Stereo Out streams to your phone instantly. Pick up your phone, move around the room, and listen through speakers, headphones, or Bluetooth. The app displays real-time LUFS metering while you listen.
Cubase Tip: Insert Position Matters on the Stereo Out
Cubase processes insert slots in order on the Stereo Out channel. Place Auxfeed in one of the last insert slots so it sits after your master limiter, ceiling plugin, or any final-stage processing. That way you're streaming exactly what would go to a rendered file. If you're comparing limiter settings, you can bypass slots above Auxfeed freely without interrupting the stream.
